Sukrityranjan Samanta Ph.D. Student (Geotechnical Engineering) Virginia Tech
I am a geotechnical engineer and researcher with a passion for solving complex soil-structure interaction challenges. My academic journey has taken me across three countries, where I earned degrees from Virginia Tech (USA), National Taiwan University (Taiwan), and NIT Raipur (India). Currently, I am pursuing a Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering at Virginia Tech, where my research focuses on developing the material point method (MPM) for root-reinforced soil behaviour.
Before transitioning into academia, I worked as a Project Engineer at KEC International Ltd., managing large-scale transmission line projects. My role involved contract management (FIDIC), financial modeling, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the successful execution of multi-million-dollar infrastructure projects.
My research interests include numerical modeling, foundation engineering, geosynthetics, and risk and reliability assessment. I am always eager to explore innovative engineering solutions and contribute to sustainable infrastructure development. Feel free to connect with me!
